Description

The dynamic scanner generates sequences of 3D photo-realistic models -25 per second of capture- (Michelangelo project). These VRML models can be used for the generation of the first true 3D films. These films needed a specific environment in order to be created and displayed. Moreover standard film formats, such as AVI, had to be exported as well to allow an easier dissemination of our work.

A "3D Film Editor" has been developed in Java3D by Ewan Borland (4th year student) under the supervision of J.-C. Nebel. The following film was created by Ewan using that tool.

The data which were used are part of a longer set which were collected to generate a 2mn film, which is still being made. The film crew was composed of Kim Bour (Director), Philip Lloyd (Producer), Andrew Bampfield (Writer), Madeleine Bowyer and Jeremy Killick (Actors) and Svenja Hoff and Jean-Christophe Nebel (Technical support).
