Ann Ooms
Introduction

I am Professor of Higher Education Research and Director of Research at Kingston University and St George's, University of London in the UK. I am also Visiting Professor at Kristianstad University in Sweden.

I hold a M.A. and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota, focusing on educational research and evaluation. I received the "Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award" from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in 2007.

Over the years, I have contributed significantly to research related to Higher Education and Healthcare Education. I publish in peer-reviewed journals, presents my research at conferences, and have been successful in obtaining grants and consultancy contracts. In 2017, I founded the Healthcare Education Research and Evaluation (HERE) Research Group.

I teach and supervise MSc and Ph.D. students and am engaged in a range of scholarly activities. For example, I am Associate Editor for the International Journal of Multiple Research Approaches and a member of editorial boards. I also chair and am a member of several committees at the University and the Faculty.

As Director of Research, I am implementing the Research Strategy and have developed the School of Nursing Research Implementation plan, which includes 14 interventions aiming to enhance the research capacity and research output of academics.

Over the years, I have received prestigious awards, a fellowship, and two scholarships.

I have lived, worked and studied in three countries and am fluent in three languages, Dutch, English and French.

In my free time, I enjoy reading novels, playing tennis, skiing and traveling and I love photography.
